We are a multiracial coalition predominantly led by organizations and communities of color. We pave the way for short and long term democracy reforms to be directed by community groups that are most intimately involved in the practice of lifting up civic engagement in marginalized communities and are therefore best equipped to confront the harmful issues ingrained in our current democratic structure.
We strengthen our state's democracy by ensuring all Arizonans share equitable access to civic engagement opportunities.
How can We the People be better represented?
In the midst of a general shift, Arizona’s demographics continue to change. Understanding this reality, our elected officials must adapt to better represent the public’s growing needs.
This is why the AZ/DC was formed.
Recognizing the need for long-term strategic planning around democracy reform in Arizona, our goal is to defend and strengthen Arizona’s democracy through advocacy, education, and organizing. We ensure that communities most impacted by systemic attacks on their right to vote and participation in our democracy are centered in structural reform efforts in Arizona. Some examples of these ongoing systemic attacks include restrictive voter ID laws, the prohibition on ballot collection, and the reduction of access to polling places.
